Call of duty: Modern Warfare 2

Right so in my boredom infested day today i decided to fully explore the deepest darkest sections of the Xbox live dashboard. I came across a link to a video that got my mouth watering a fair bit!

"Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Trailer"

Thats what it said. I'd heard vicious rumours of such a game circulating for a while. but actual footage being available? That sounded pretty irresistible!

The video is unfortunately rather disappointing. You get a green waveform, with a background noise of what sound s little bit like shopping mall, with some walking and item/inventory SFX. Some numbers and letters appear on the screen along with elevator noises. Then it becomes apparent that the 'greenness' may be some kind of nightvision-esque view or something, a few seconds after that some quick cuts of action and lous screams/shooting all in a hazy green view. After that some russian sounding voice speaking and the numbers 11.10.09

In all it tells you nothing about the game, it shows you nothing in the way of gameplay snippets, or anything at all really other than that ominous set of numbers which i assume to be the release date. Its nothing more than a prick-tease from Infinity Ward. It's like a half price sale on chocolate digestives, but they're all sold out. It's an outrage! Maybe thats overreacting, but what a waste of time really...

Of course I'm still excited about the game, but just a little annoyed that the makers could'nt have provided us with a trailer that would really get out mouth watering, and out trigger fingers itching oh well.

For those of you without Xbox live, you can view the video here

The lost and the damned frustrating

Before i begin adding new content its time to bulk up the site with some previous opinions off the test run site. Also to note since writing this i discovered there is a new act in the comedy club making my opinion of the worth of this purchase slightly higher. (Still to many points for it though)

Well downloaded content for GTA4 is now available for all 360 users with live. But is it simply worth the cost.

The answer lies with you and what you would be willing to pay for.
New music on the radio stations yeah you can have that 2-3 new tracks per station adds up to about 30 new songs with some new audio dialog interbreed it all. We have some new television content not altogether an awful lot of it but it seems rockstar has listened to its consumer markets and give us more of what we wanted. Republican space rangers makes its triumphant return to the television screen within your television screen.

The plot involves johnny and the biker gang "the lost" as the head of the chapter they belong to is released johnny and jimmy "not the most original of names for them i agree" are thrown back into a war against rival motor club"biker gang" the angels of death. You may remember johnny from ONE MISSION in the vanilla GTA4 where you first meet the much more interesting playboy and yes Nico does reappear however briefly in this expansion to.

additional features include following in formation to converse with the other bikers on your way to a shootout. A battle hardened meter that pretty much just tracks Jim and Clays toughness. Dont get to attached to any other cannon fodder that joins in on your activity's. Now you can take part in gang wars. A lovable throwback to the old GTA turf wars go somewhere and kill the red dots however you want. This seems to be the only way to upgrade Jim and Clay and get them better weapons.

Dawn of War 2

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war...

But heck - it's not that important a war, so budding commanders need only send a dozen or so men to win it - right?

Welcome to Dawn of War 2 - sequel to the game that pretty much revolutionized the RTS genre, making it more accessible than it had been for a decade. This time it goes even further in it's quest to draw in the wider audience by addressing the issues of what actually made the previous game fun. But lets not get ahead of ourselves, and talk about the game itself. Maybe with the funnies - who knows?

Just to mix this up - I'll look at some RTS conventions, and then show how DOW2 likes to bend them over and give them a good old relic style pounding.

First off we have base building!
Well as everyone knows, building bases, defenses and other such paraphernalia are essentially for homosexuals. As far as DOW2 is concerned if you want to play at real estate developer then go and play The Sims. DOW2's only concession to base building is that one of the hero choices allows you to build turrets, which are of course suitably manly enough to be permitted in the grim darkness of the far interior decorator.
So suddenly you're not looking at a traditional RTS turtling game, where you spend the first ten minutes of every match setting up pointless architecture that allows you to build slightly shinier pointless architecture.
You have one building. It's bum hard, defend it. Period.

This brings us to the units. Now we don't have to worry about managing our housing portfolio we have time to actually concentrate on the units.
Now this isn't Supreme Commander, or even the last DOW. You won't see four hundred units locked epically in pitched battle at any one time. The best results often come from maybe a dozen or so men who you carefully micromanage. It's all about tactics, and picking your battles.
