blog

A blog entry and not a review? Yes, because some thoughts are worth preserving.

What drives us to blog? I found myself pondering this very question whilst perusing the ten-thousand odd journal entries which had accumulated in my deviaintart inbox seemingly overnight.
The internet is the ultimate democracy, and everyone has a voice. It was one of those times where one is made all too aware of the benefits of totalitarian regimes who ban formalization of thought, because lets be honest - most people are idiots.

I'm not afraid to count myself among this flawed majority, I too occasionally catch myself scratching my arse in public and believing stories in the Daily Mail. I am however aware of it.
And i most certainly don't feel the need to post a blog entry every time an event of even the most minute significance occurs within a thirty mile radius of me, and then type it up in an adolescant frenzy of oozing acne and uniformed opinion.

Convinced that despite all evidence to the contrary, an uncaring world cares. This is the freaking internet people. If you're blogging about those oh so complicated whiny troubles encountered in your high school with the cute girl who you just can't seem to talk to - i can guarantee that at least a third of the comments you receive on it will be from pedophiles and similar borderline animal rapists.

Blogging is effectively pissing into a sea, a sea of piss.

So why do it? And why is it always those with the most inane lives are so drawn to it?
Simply; it is fear of mortality. Not just of the flesh, but the thought and soul of yourself as a person.
Most people will, despite good intentions, lead dull lives - marry dull people, have dull kids and die of a very dull disease. A year later nobody will remember their names, a decade later it will be as if they'd never existed.
